BYLAW AMENDMENTS AS VOTED ON The following proposed MTA bylaws amendments were voted on September 15, 2007. ARTICLE V - Officers - FAILED Current - Section 1: The officers of this association shall be president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, conservation director, and National Trappers Association Director. Proposed - Section 1: The officers of this association shall be president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, conservation director, National Trappers Association Director and Fur Takers of America Director. Explanation - Added Fur Takers of America Director to be an officer of this Association. ARTICLE V - FAILED Current - Section 2: The president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, conservation director and National Trappers Association Director shall be elected by secret ballot at the annual meeting of the odd numbered years and assume office on October 1 following the Annual Meeting, for a term of two (2) years. Proposed - Section 2: The president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, conservation director, National Trappers Association Director, and Fur Takers of America Director shall be elected by secret ballot at the annual meeting of the odd numbered years and assume office on October 1 following the Annual Meeting, for a term of two (2) years. Explanation - Added Fur Takers of America Director. ARTICLE VII - Qualifications and Duties of Officers - FAILED Current. - Section 1, paragraph C: To hold the office of vice president, secretary, treasurer, conservation director, or National Trappers Association director, a member shall have served as a district director or standing committee chairman for at least one full term. Proposed - Section 1, paragraph C: To hold the office of vice president, secretary, treasurer, conservation director, National Trappers Association director or Fur Takers of America director, a member shall have served as a district director or standing committee chairman for at least one full term. Explanation: Added Fur Takers of America director. ARTICLE VII - Qualifications and Duties of Officers - FAILED Proposed: Add on entire paragraph G which shall read: G: Fur Takers of America Director: The Fur Takers of America director shall: (1) Provide an avenue of communication between the Fur Takers of America and this association. (2) Keep this association apprised of the activities of the Fur Takers of America and gather and relay information to create a mutual understanding with other trappers. (3) Attend the Fur Taker of America yearly meetings and represent this association at all meetings of the Fur Takers of America, board of directors, or other conferences as requested by the officers of the Fur Takers of America or this association. (4) In the event the elected Fur Takers of America Director is prevented from representing this Association at any meeting or conference as required, an Alternate Director shall be voted in by secret ballot of the general membership at the annual meeting of the odd number of years. And this Alternate Director will serve as assistant to the elected FTA director and assist with any duties as may be agreed upon between them for the remainder of the term. ARTICLE VII - Qualifications and Duties of Officers - FAILED Current - Section 1 paragraph A: To hold elected or appointed office in this association a member shall be a resident of the state of MO, shall be at least 18 years of age and shall have been a member in good standing for a period of two years prior to assuming office Proposed - Section 1 paragraph A: To hold elected or appointed office in this association a member shall be a resident of the state of MO, shall be at least 18 years of age and shall have been a member in good standing for a period of two years immediately prior to assuming office
Current - Section 2, Subsection F, paragraph (4): In the event the elected National Trappers Association Director is prevented from representing this association at any meeting or conference as required, the president shall appoint an alternate director to represent this association. The alternate director may serve as assistant to the elected NTA director and assist with any duties as may be agreed upon between them for the remainder of the term. Proposed - Section 2 Subsection F, Paragraph (4): In the event the elected National Trappers Association Director is prevented from representing this association at any meeting or conference as required, an Alternate Director shall be voted in by secret ballot of the general membership at the annual meeting of the odd numbered years. The Alternate Director may serve as assistant to the elected NTA Director, and assist with any duties as may be agreed upon between them for the remainder of the term. Explanation: This allows an Alternate NTA Director to be voted in by the general membership instead of having an appointed one by the president. ARTICLE X - Standing Committees - PASSED Current - Section 1: The standing committees of this association shall be: Awards, Fur Auction, Hall of Fame, Membership, Public Relations, Rendezvous, Scholarship, and Ways and Means. Proposed - Section 1: The standing committees of this association shall be: Awards, Fur Auction, Hall of Fame, Membership, Public Relations, Rendezvous, Scholarship, Ways and Means, and Publications Committee. Explanation - This amends the Publication Committee from an appointed committee to a standing committee. ARTICLE X - Standing Committees - PASSED Proposed - Add Section 14. Publications Committee: the Publications Committee shall: A. Be comprised of a chairman and not less than two (2) committee members. B. Receive articles and collect information to be published in the “Mountain Men Newsletter” at least once a year. Explanation - Describes duties of the publications committee. MISSOURI TRAPPERS ASSOCIATION STANDING RULES Current - Paragraph 2: The office of secretary and the office of treasurer may be held by the same individual. Proposed - Eliminate Paragraph 2 - PASSED Explanation - These two offices are now held by two different individuals. Current - Paragraph 9: The president may appoint a Publications Committee to edit and mail a newsletter. Proposed - Eliminate Paragraph 9. - PASSED Explanation - This paragraph is no longer valid, as it is changed to a standing committee.
Current - Paragraph 10, section C, line 1: NTA Director to National Convention and other conferences requiring NTA board member attendance. Proposed - Paragraph 10, section C, line 1: NTA Director and FTA Director to National Conventions and other conferences requiring NTA or FTA board member attendance. Explanation - Gives traveling expenses to FTA Director.
